Battery Load Test Procedure for Silent Accelerated Test
Download the procedure in PDF format
Voltage: _______ V dc
Current: _______ A
Step 1
Take Battery voltage and current with main power supply ‘ON’.
Voltage: _______ V dc
Current: _______ A
Step 2
Take Battery voltage and current with main power supply ‘OFF’
and fire alarm system in supervisory condition.
Voltage: _______ V dc
Current: _______ A
Step 3
Take Battery voltage and current with main power supply ‘OFF’
and fire alarm system in full load alarm condition.
Step 4
Clear alarm and turn back on main power.
Step 5
Either option to disconnect the battery:
Option 1: Disconnect the positive (+) side of the battery connected to the main power supply.
Option 2: Remove the fuse disconnect or turn off the fuse breaker.
Note: trouble should appear on panel.
Step 6
Connect the Battery Load Tester with the alligator clips.
Note: Green LED will illuminate to confirm connection to batteries.
Note: Insert test leads to front of Battery Load Tester.
(this will be your battery voltage at the end of the 5 min test)
Step 7
Operate switch on the front to begin test.
Start timer for 5 minutes.
Note: White LED will illuminate to confirm test has begun.
Note: If the white LED has not illuminated confirm proper polarity to batteries.
Voltage: _______ V dc

Step 8
After 5 minutes note battery voltage
Note: The Battery Load Tester will remove power to the load
resister after approx. 5min 30 sec.

Current: _______ A
Step 9
Leave the Battery Load Tester connected to the battery for
5 additional minutes to allow the fan to cool down the unit.
Step 10
Reconnect the battery by either option used in step #5 and take the charging current.

Battery Capacity Calculation:
[(Step#2) _____A x 24 (hours)] = a
[(Step#3) _____A x .5(hour)] = b
[a+b] x 1.2 Safety factor (derating factor)]= ____Ah calculated for report
